Oil tanker blows up in Uganda

Police spokesman in Uganda said that many people are feared dead as a fuel tanker blew up in Rubirizi district in western Uganda, according to Xinhua.

Great Bushenyi regional police spokesman, Marshal Tumusiime, said that the explosion took place when the oil tanker overturned, blew up and went down in flames along the Kasese-Mbarara highway in Kyambura trading center.

He said that "The driver of that motor vehicle which was carrying fuel failed to control it. It overturned and exploded into flames after it caught fire used for roasting cassava and meat in the trading center".

He also added that "The fire gutted all the shops, vehicles and motorcycles parked there. I am told a number of people got burnt completely. We are yet to get the exact number who died and number of causalities".
