(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) DHAKA: Qatar Airways Flight QR 635 plane made an emergency landing following its take off from Dhaka. All the passengers and crews are said to be safe, officials confirmed.
The Boeing 777 aircraft with around 350 passengers made and emergency landing at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 9.40pm on October 22 due to technical glitch of its landing gear.
No one was hurt in the incident as all the passengers disebarked safely after it landed at 9:40 pm, airport director Group Captain Adullah-al-Faruq told the media.
Just after the takeoff, the pilot of the aircraft informed the airport control tower that there was some malfunction with one of its landing gear as it was not closing, he said.
Forced to turn around, the aircraft circled around the for two hours to burn fuel, in doing so making itself suitably light and safe for the emergency landing.
Later, the pilot executed the emergency landing once clearance was received from airport authorities.
Fire Service Director (Operations) Major Shakil Newaz said, 'We were ready, so everything was done smoothly. The passengers are safe.'
The airport was closed for four hours for the Qatar Airways emergency landing.
Due to the emergency landing, several flights were rescheduled and all domestic and international flights were delayed in Chattogram and in Dhaka.
An airport official said the flight was declared cancelled and passengers were disembarked.
Airport officials confirmed that all the passengers of Qatar Airways Flight QR 635 boarded an alternative aircraft at 3am of October 23.
The same official said the Boeing 777 is being inspected by ground engineers and along with engineers flown in from Doha to check the aircraft airworthiness.
