Dreama sheds light on how to inform orphans of their status

Doha: The Orphans Care Center (Dreama) has organised a training workshop for specialists, service and care providers, and foster families entitled ‘Arts of Dealing with Orphans and Shariah Provisions of Orphans'.

The workshop was held within the ‘Family Stability Project' prepared by the  centre to help the foster family inform the orphan child of his social status through psychological and educational sound methods. 

The workshop presented by Nasser Hamad Al Khalidi, psychological and educational counsellor from Kuwait, aimed at educating workers of service providers to fostered children.

The workshop also aimed to train foster families, and support professionals of the orphan child needs and inform him of his social status before and after fostering through gradual psychological methods from childhood to youth.

The five-day course tackled the methodology of dealing with the orphan child from several axes, some of which are:  the art of dealing with orphans and their needs, psychological, emotional and behavioural effect on orphans. 

The course discussed the concept of alternative family, the conditions and instructions of the foster family, the basic objective of the foster family, the concept of shelter, and the role of the shelter institution.
