(MENAFN) Syria and Russia are near sealing an agreement for Moscow to lease out Tartus port, media reports suggested.
It comes after a meeting was held in Damascus between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and top Russian officials.
Talks were carried out as Syria welcomed Russian special envoy to Syria Aleksandr Lavrentiev, Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov among other Defense Ministry officials.
During the meeting, the two sides addressed anticipated peace negotiations along with concerns related to bilateral trade.
