Turkey sends military equipment to Hakkari province on border with Iraq

Turkey sent military equipment to Hakkari province on the border with Iraq, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media on April 16.

Reportedly, this measure was taken as part of the fight against the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Artillery installations were also transported to the province.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
