UAE- Head of Moroccan Government receives Amal Al Qubaisi

RABAT, 12th March, 2019 (WAM) -- Saadeddine Othmani, Head of the Moroccan Government, received, at the cabinet's headquarters in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, who is heading an FNC delegation on an official visit to the country.

During the visit, Dr. Al Qubaisi met with senior officials and participated in the "14th Conference of the Union of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation."

Othmani highlighted the deep bilateral relations between Morocco and the UAE, which are being supported by their leadership, headed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Othmani also expressed his pride at the close relations between the two countries and their cooperation in international forums and priority causes, most notably Morocco's support for the sovereignty of the UAE over the three islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, which are occupied by Iran.

He then praised the UAE's leadership, government and people for standing by Morocco and supporting its territorial integrity.

He recalled the unstinted support provided by the UAE to Morocco since its establishment, and asserted that the Moroccan people appreciate, respect and love the UAE's leadership and the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his love for Morocco.

The Emirati projects are spread in different parts of Morocco, and they are diverse as well as being one of Morocco's cultural, educational and medical landmarks, which is from the time of the late Sheikh Zayed, he said.

He referred to the programmes conducted by the Moroccan Government with regard to urban development and renewal in the city of Rabat, the historical context of the city, and the historic and economic landmarks it contains. His Majesty King Mohammed VI sponsors a programme for developing the city of Rabat called "Rabat the City of Lights" in addition to the other cities witnessing this change, development and advancement, he added.

Dr. Al Qubaisi said that the UAE tops the Arab investments in Morocco (US$15 billion) through 30 Emirati companies, and controls 45 percent of stock market investments, which signify the depth of relations. She pointed to fields of cooperation in the energy and agricultural investments sectors.

She affirmed that the FNC supports the government's directives in whatever it plans and strategies it adopts on the domestic and foreign levels.
