White House: 200 U.S. soldiers to remain in Syria following withdrawal

(MENAFN) The United States decided to have 200 soldiers stay in Syria following its military withdrawal, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced.

According to the U.S. official, "a small peacekeeping group of about 200 will remain in Syria for a period of time."

A source told CNN that the U.S. soldiers would be dispatched between At-Tanf and northeast Syria after the pullout plan is implemented.

It comes shortly after U.S. European allies rejected a demand the U.S. made for a gap with their soldiers to be filled.
