Studio estimates revealed that Cold Pursuit occupied the third place as most popular film in US and Canadian cinemas, granting USD 10.8m ("8.4m) between Friday and Sunday.
The revenge drama's first weekend profits were a little under those for his other recent action thrillers.
The actor, aged 66, was criticized after confessing he once wanted to murder a random black man.
