AU 32nd summit commences Sun. with focus on forced displacement


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- The 32nd African Union (AU) Heads Of State And Government Summit kicked off in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, focusing on refugees and forced displacement.

The summit is under the theme: "Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa." The leaders are focusing on finding effective solutions to deal with conflicts that lead to forced displacement in the continent.

The session will also discuss the institutional reform of the AU and creating the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The summit is attended by leaders and representatives of AU countries and governments, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other international politicians. (end) mr.ag
