Kvitova advances to Australian Open semifinals


(MENAFN) Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ashleigh Barty of Australia in the women's singles on Tuesday.

Following the victory, the 28-year-old Czech was handed a ticket to move to the semifinals in the Australian Open.

22-year-old Barty suffered a loss in 68 minutes in the quarter-finals game played at the Australian city of Melbourne.

In the semifinals game, Kvitova is scheduled to play against Danielle Collins of the United States and fight for the final stage.
