(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ras Al Khaimah Courts has launched a new section for tolerance and settlements, right in time for the UAE's celebration of 2019 as the 'Year of Tolerance'.
Ibrahim Al Zaabi, director of the RAK Courts, said the new section, set to be managed by high-calibre counsellors and experts, will strive to settle all disputes amicably.
"It will cover inheritance-related cases, rent disputes, along with civil and labour lawsuits," Al Zaabi said.
He said the value of tolerance is deeply rooted in the customs, traditions and heritage of the UAE people, so amicable settlements would certainly be possible for both citizens and residents.
"This value has helped us produce the unique example of peaceful coexistence of over 180 nationalities," he added.
Jassim Al Makki, an adviser at the RAK Courts, said the new section falls in line with the UAE law that makes it necessary for family disputes to be heard first by the counselling section before being referred to the court. "Staff counsellors have helped defuse thousands of cases involving Emiratis and residents of various nationalities," Al Makki said.
Abdullah Al Shiba, head of the tolerance section, said he is confident that his team would be able to achieve their goals.
"Many of our staff counsellors are brilliant in this regard and have successfully managed to end numerous disputes in an amicable way."
Moza Shaiban Al Habsi, director of community services at the RAK Courts who was also the official behind the new drive, said all the parties involved are free to take their dispute to the court if they fail to settle their litigation amicably.
"Most of the customers opt for amicable settlement," Al Habsi said.
The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently declared 2019 as the Year of Tolerance for the UAE. Highlighting the country as a global capital for tolerance, various legislative and policy-oriented goals will be set to instil the values of coexistence and peace in local, regional and international communities.
