Irbil Int'l Theatre Festival kicks off featuring several countries


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The Irbil International Theater Festival kicked off on Monday with the participation of eight groups from Kuwait, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Germany as well as local teams.

The festival continue until the 14th of this month, during which many theater performances and workshops will be presented to the halls of the Institute of Fine Arts in Irbil.

The Festival Director, Hewa Suad, told KUNA that the festival aims at introducing international experiences in the field of theater and establishing relations with theatrical teams and artists in the world.

"We are keen to convey to the neighboring peoples and to the international community the message that the people of Kurdistan are capable of producing art and civilization to be a factor for the promotion of peace, love and coexistence among everyone," Suad added.

In a statement to KUNA, the Minister of Culture in Kurdistan Regional Government, Khaled Duski, praised the establishment of the festival, pointing out that it is an opportunity to learn about international and Arab experiences in addition to the definition of the Kurdish theater to the rest of the peoples.

A selection of well-known Iraqi artists in the theater field is participating in the festival and Kuwait is performing (Ismail's Negativities) play. (end) sbr.aa
