France: riot police nab1,700 protesters


(MENAFN) The interior ministry declared that at least 1,700 people have been nabbed across France during the latest wave of "yellow vest" demonstrations, in which protesters fought with riot police.

Violence erupted in many cities, including Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon and Toulouse, during the fourth week of nationwide demonstrations against increasing living costs and President Emmanuel Macron in general.

the ministry added that up to 1,220 of the 1,723 arrested were demanded to be held in custody.

Police in Paris confirmed that they have detained 1,082 arrests on Saturday, surging from 412 in the former round.
