Iraq expresses desire to boost ties with Iran in several fields


(MENAFN) Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi encounters with Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammad Hashim al-Ani, debating the progress of bilateral ties in the economic, investment and trade sectors.

In a meeting held in Baghdad on Wednesday, Hashim al-Ani pointed to the coming visit by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani to his country, and expressed hope that the two neighbors would enhance their trades and economic ties.

Referring to the U.S' independent sanctions on Iran, the Iraqi official repeated his respective government's backing to the Islamic Republic, saying Iraq will not abandon Iran under force.

Masjedi, for his part, expressed appreciation toward Iraq for making every effort to expand ties with Tehran, saying, the Iranian private sector is ready to increase the scope of its activities and collaboration with Iraqi companions in several economic fields.
