Oman- Ahmad returns to Gulf 12 Hours in new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 CAR

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit in UAE has been a happy hunting ground for Oman Racing's Ahmad al Harthy while competing in the Gulf 12 Hours. On his debut in 2015, Ahmad bagged a third-place finish while he was runner-up in Pro-Am class at last year's edition.

And on Tuesday, Ahmad and his Oman Racing team confirmed its return to the eighth edition of the event to be held at the F1 circuit on December 15.

Ahmad will be joined by Aston Martin 'works' drivers Jonny Adam and Darren Turner, the same team that had finished third in 2015 among a field of 19 teams.

And the highlight of the trio's participation this year will be competing in the latest model of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

The super-competitive line-up will go into the encounter with the potential to bid for an outright win in their new car.

Delighted to be reunited with Adam and Turner for this year's race, Yas Marina will also mark the first time Ahmad and Adam will race as teammates since the pair won the 2017 Blancpain Endurance Cup Pro-Am title.

'It's great to return to the Gulf 12 Hours and I'm really looking forward to, what is always, an exciting race,' said Ahmad

The Muscat-based racer said, 'This [participation in Gulf 12 Hours] is something we have been working on for some time, so to be out there with the latest Aston Martin GT3 car will be very special.

'It is a privilege to team up with Darren [Turner] and Jonny [Adam] once again. Yas Marina circuit is close to Oman, so its obviously a local race for Oman Racing and we're hopeful of support from fans and sponsors.'

Ahmad said, 'To race in the brand new Aston Martin GT3 in the Gulf 12 Hours is big. Hopefully, we will have something to celebrate.'

The opening practice session will be on December 13 with two additional practice sessions, and a three-part qualifying period will start the next day. On December 15, the opening six hours of the big race will get underway at 9.00am and after a break, part two will commence at 5.45pm for the final six-hour run to the chequered flag.
