Oman- Over 7% drop in road accidents in August this year, says NCSI


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The number of road accidents in Oman decreased by 7.3 per cent in August 2018 compared to the same month last year. The months of August and July registered 215 accidents, while June saw 222 accidents, according to the latest statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

In August, Muscat saw the maximum accidents at 26 per cent, followed by Dakhliyah (16.7 per cent), South Batinah (12.6 per cent) and North Batinah (11.2 per cent). The other governorates recorded 33.5 per cent accidents. Statistics also indicate that the incidence of accidents at night stood at 56 per cent. Road accidents resulted in 75 deaths, of which 30 were Omanis.

The number of deaths from traffic accidents in August among expatriates stood at 45. As for traffic accident injuries, 174 were Omanis, and 64 were expatriates.
