3,453 Omanis committed to strengthen Bank Muscat leadership


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, in step with its vision 'To serve you better, everyday' and commitment to partnership in sustainable development of human resources, has stepped up efforts to provide rewarding career opportunities for Omani youth.

The bank enrolled 221 new Omani staff to work in different departments in the first eight months of this year, including 207 Omani youth as part of the national initiative to create 25,000 new jobs on the Royal Directive of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Ahmed Faqir al Balushi, DGM - Human Resources, said, 'As the nation's leading banking partner, Bank Muscat attaches great importance to national initiatives, especially human resources development aimed at contributing to Oman's future by investing in talent which is the real wealth of the nation. Sustainable human resources development is one of the key priorities of the bank.

'Bank Muscat is proud to take the lead among private sector institutions to carry out the national responsibility in creating job opportunities and providing a suitable work environment. We stand together with the government in its pledge to create 25,000 new jobs for Omani job-seekers.'

Every year, Bank Muscat welcomes new recruits to take up various positions in the bank. The absorption of new employees reflects the bank's focus to develop its young Omani leadership.

Bank Muscat has the distinction of outstanding leadership at all levels and has achieved 94.57 per cent Omanisation, giving priority for Omanis to occupy key positions. Of the total 3,646 employees, the number of Omani employees presently stands at 3,453. Omanis form 75 per cent inthe higher management and 92.6 per cent in the middle management cadres.

The bank encourages diversity at the workplace in terms of gender, age and skill set.

The human resources strategy is notable as 48 per cent of employees are women holding various positions, including senior management positions. Bank Muscat reckons its competent people as key strength and is focused on equipping them to make vital contributions to the bank's growth and success. The bank plays a prominent role in the development of Omani talent and is committed to investing in improving their skills and expertise.

The bank provides relevant educational and training opportunities to employees. The training and development programmes are carried out through specialised courses conducted by accredited training centers or through academic links with colleges, universities and leading training institutes at the regional and global levels.

The bank earmarks substantial allocation for training and development of human resources in all functions and responsibilities assigned to them. The Jadara Academy provides a comprehensive platform and framework for all staff learning and development programmes in the bank. The Jadara Academy offers a wide range of soft skills, leadership and functional development programmes. Since 2017, over 10,000 classroom training opportunities were provided and 7,800 employees completed different eLearning modules. The Ministry of Manpower has endorsed the Jadara Academy as an authorised training centre. Opportunities are available for staff to pursue part-time Diploma/Bachelor programmes at local colleges as well as Post-Graduate programmes at leading international business schools. In the recent years, 465 employees were granted educational assistance to complete their academic qualifications in local and international colleges/universities/business schools.

The bank facilitates professional qualifications for staff in areas like treasury, investment, trade finance, cards, IT, finance and human resources. Recently, the bank supported 180 employees to complete professional certifications in areas related to their functions.

Leadership and management development programmes are available for first line managers, middle and top management, facilitated by faculty from renowned business schools like International Institute for Management Development (IMD), INSEAD, University of Cambridge and Duke Corporate Education.

Nineteen employees recently completed the two-year High Potential Graduate Development Programme. Ninety-one staff have been enrolled in the Tatweer Team Leaders Development Programme since 2017.

Thirty-seven staff members recently completed the Duke Corporate Education Middle Management Programme. The Cambridge Middle Management Development Programme has 37 staff members currently enrolled for the programme. Thirty-four staff members are currently participating in the INSEAD Management Development Programme.

The bank provides functional development programmes based on different roles/job profiles such asbranch managers, service managers, wealth management, project finance,SME and credit. The Certified Branch Managers Programme is presently attended by 115 branch managers.

The Certified Branch Service Manager programme is attended by 94 service managers. The Level 1 Certified Premier Banking Relationship Manager programme has been completed by 38 relationship managers. The Certified SME Lending Expert certification has been completed by 20 employees.
