Jordan- Preparatory sessions of EBRD annual meeting get underway
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Dead Sea, May 8 (Petra) -- Preparatory sessions for the 27th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the accompanying 2018 Business Forum started Tuesday on Dead Sea shores in the Jordan Valley.
The official opening session of the high-profile meeting will kick off on Wednesday in the presence of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who will deliver a keynote speech. Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah will also deliver a keynote speech during a session titled: "The Future of Work: Addressing Tomorrow's Skills and Jobs Challenges." The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss various challenges at the global level, including efforts to support economic growth and enhance business-doing in the countries and regions of the bank', with a special emphasis on the energy sector, sustainability, FinTech, co-financing capital and mobilizing impact investment.
In a session addressing ways to mobilize investments in infrastructure, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Emad Fakhoury told the participants that Jordan carried out projects worth USD10 billion over the past 10 years thanks to an appropriate legislative and legal environment.
He indicated that Jordan is working to grant the private sector a broader share in the implementation of national projects in a bid to boost employment and address the Kingdom's prime challenge which is unemployment.
