Sudan port receives tugboats and container cranes from Mwani Qatar
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Sudanese Port of Suakin recently received container cranes and tugboats from Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) as part of theimplementation of the first phase of the MoU the company had signed with the Port of Sudan. Under the MoU, the Port of Suakin would be developed with a view to making it a key seaport for cargo transportation. On the occasion, Qatar'sambassador to Sudan Rashid bin Abdul Rahman al-Nuiami emphasised the strength of Qatari-Sudanese relations for which the foundations were laid down by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sudanese President Omer Hassan al-Bashir. He said the cranes and tugboats are part of the capital allocated for developing the Port of Suakin. 'The Port of Suakin has comparative advantages. It supports exportation significantly, especially to the economies of the African region, al-Nuiami said. He also stressed its 'importance, vital strategic location, connection to the Silk Road and uniqueness for being a very important meeting point for exports, particularly to neighbouring countries, which makes it a value addition to the economies concerned.
