Kuwait- Municipality completes list of supervisors due for retirement

KUWAIT CITY, April 10: Kuwait Municipality has completed the list of supervisors who served for more than 30 years in preparation for their referral for retirement, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the first batch consists of more than 30 supervisors who served for 32 years, indicating the decision on their retirement will be issued soon. Sources said the decision covers sector heads and directors of the Central Department and Municipality branches in the six governorates.

Sources clarified this step is aimed at pumping fresh blood and appointments in some locations to fill up positions that will be vacated by officials who will be referred for retirement or those whose tenure will no longer be renewed. Asked about the Municipal Council employees, sources disclosed the retirement decision also applies to those who served for 32 years in the Secretariat General of the council. It is worth mentioning that Deputy Director General for Financial and Administrative Affairs Eng Waleed Al-Jassem submitted his resignation last week, while a number of other deputy directors general are now waiting for the decision of the Cabinet on the renewal of their tenure.

Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs and Executive Development Fahad Al- Ghais has confirmed the extension of the contracts of 39 male and female teachers on secondment (special contracts) from Tunis, Morocco and Mauritania for another academic year – 2018/2019, reports Al-Rai daily. He said 18 of these teachers are assigned in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational District where they work in administrative jobs, heads of divisions, and teachers of English and French languages; 13 in Ahmadi Educational District and eight in Hawally Educational District with the same positions.

He explained the decision to extend the contracts of these teachers does not entail they cannot be terminated, affirming Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Fatima Al-Kandari and directors of the aforementioned educational districts approved the decision.
