Arab development institutions meet

KHARTOUM, 20th March 2018 (WAM) -- The 81st meeting of the Coordination Group of Arab National and Regional Development Institutions opened today in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.

Hosted by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, BADEA, the meeting concludes on 22nd March.

Among members of the Coordination Group, besides BADEA, are the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, ADFD, the Islamic Development Bank, the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Arab Monetary Fund and the Arab Gulf Programme for Development.

Other institutions attending the meeting include the World Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Topics to be discussed include the exchange of information on projects being financed by Group members and a report on a meeting held with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD.

The Coordination Group was set up in 1975 to bring greater cohesion to the provision of development aid by Group member agencies.

The United Arab Emirates is a shareholder in BADEA, which was founded in 1973.
