India: four killed in landmine bombing


(MENAFN) Police reported the death of four people, with an election candidate among them, in a landmine bombing in Meghalaya, India's northeastern state, where four militant associations aim for independence.

The explosion occurred in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills region, nearly 250 km away from Shillong, the state's capital.

The district had witnessed four militants asking for the separation of tens of thousands of Garo tribals resident in the state bordering Bangladesh .

The elections arranged in February 27 at Meghalaya state include 60 candidates.
