Erdogan: West supports Operation Olive Branch

Western countries support Turkey in carrying out the Operation Olive Branch, the Turkish media cited President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying Feb. 1.

'Turkey will not stop the anti-terrorist operations in Syria,' Erdogan said. "Everyone knows that the aim of the terrorists of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the People's Protection Units (YPG) is Turkey."

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force are involved in the operation, inflicting strikes on the positions of PYD/YPG on the Syrian-Turkish border.
