Shop Qatar generates over QR15m of spending

DOHA: The second week of Shop Qatar 2018 generated more than QR15m of spending represented by over 78,000 vouchers entered into the weekly draw on Thursday, organisers Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced.
Held at Hyatt Plaza Mall, the second weekly draw saw 15 winners walk away with big prizes including two BMW cars and QR500,000 in cash prizes.
The winners of QR10,000 cash prizes were Abdul Saleem (115023), Noura Alawi Al Yafi (067333), Mahdi Ali Yousif (004927) and Carea Baig (106152).
The winners of QR20,000 and QR30,000 were Rakesh Aitavar (102603) and Christopher Bag Ao (106634) respectively. Mary Anne Adams (069039), Gary Bond (064151), Abdel Moniem Idris Manaa Mojawer (046503) and Ezzar Sofiane (041522) each won the QR40,000 cash prize. The QR50,000 cash prize went to Gireesh Kamal (038678), while Asmaa El Shafey (048463) and Mohammad Fakhro (019791) each won the QR100,000 in cash.
The BMW 520i went to John Calberon (106583) and the winner of the grand prize, a BMW 730 Li, was Hessa Al Muhannadi (154812).
Visitors and residents still have chance to win any of the prizes by shopping or dining at any of the festival's 13 mall partners. The next draw will be held this coming Thursday, January 25 8.30pm at Tawar Mall. The final draw will take place at the closing ceremony in Doha Festival City on February 8 and will feature a special performance by Lebanese singer, Ramy Ayach.
A total of QR4m in prizes are in store at this year's Shop Qatar, whose inaugural edition contributed an estimated QR1.06b to the local economy.
