2024 Paris Olympics Officially Open

Amman, July 26 (Petra)-- Beginning with a video clip featuring comedian Jamel Debbouze and former football star Zinedine Zidane at the Stade de France, the 2024 Paris olympics opened , on Friday, at 7:30 p.m. local time (17:30 GMT). This was followed by an extraordinary procession on the Seine River, which drew 6,800 participants.
At the start of the festivities, which featured the well-known American singer Lady Gaga, the first boat carried the delegation from Greece, which is regarded as the birthplace of contemporary sports. Subsequently, other delegations' boats arrived.
According to France 24, the opening ceremony will take place outside the main stadium for the first time in history. An estimated 200,000 spectators will watch from the balconies of surrounding buildings, while 320,000 spectators will watch from stands constructed especially for the occasion on the banks of the river.
During a three-hour and forty-five-minute display, athletes from 205 nations will be on board 85 ferries and boats. The event will take place under strict security precautions, hours after acts of sabotage affected the high-speed train network.
