Patriot missile firing units to be delivered to the Kuwaiti Armed Forces

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: Two systems from Raytheon and Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) hit-to-kill missiles from Lockheed Martin — will be delivered to the Kuwaiti Armed Forces soon, according to a report published by Shephard Media on its website quoting industry officials.

The report disclosed that the US Department of Defense made an announcement regarding the contract for two additional fire units and spares valued at $65 million in February 2014 and the target date of completion is April 2018.

Kuwait country leader for Raytheon Gary Menke said the first firing unit that will be delivered is the latest Patriot standard known as Configuration 3. He explained, 'There are definite capabilities increases over the original system, it's much easier to maintain, mean time between failure is reduced and there are performance increases.'

This is in addition to a contract for upgrading the Patriot systems of the Kuwaiti Air Force to Configuration 3+ standard which will be carried out within the next 12 to 18 months, Menke added.
