Veteran actor Sumita Sanyal of 'Anand' fame dies

Veteran actress Sumita Sanyal, Amitabh Bachchan's lady love in 'Anand' (1971), passed away. She was 71.

Sanyal has worked in over 50 Bengali and Hindi films, including in 'Sagina Mahato' with Dilip Kumar and 'Kuheli' with Biswajit and Sandhya Roy, both Bengali movies.

She was married to film editor Subodh Roy and is survived by a son. Reason of her death is still unknown.

Born in Darjeeling on October 9, 1945, Sanyal made her debut in 1960 in the Bengali film 'Khokhababur Pratyabartan'. Since then, apart from movies, she has also appeared in serials and on the stage. Her Hindi filmography consists of 'Aashirwad' (1968), 'Guddi' (1971) and more.
