The incident took place last week in Hay Mohammadi, a popular district in Morocco's economic capital, Casablanca. A two-minute video that has gone viral on social media shows a huge crowd of residents gathered around the house of the victims. The video shows the police units present on the scene preventing the crowd from getting close to the house. What appears as the scientific police are filmed carrying the dead body down the staircase to a hearse parked meters away from the victim's house. Meanwhile, the video shows a crowd of people is chanting in unison, 'there is no God but God, and Mohamed is his messenger,' which is usually chanted in similar situations. One of the locals interviewed in the video said, 'there is only her and her daughter in the house, who else is with them?' insinuating that the daughter murdered the victim. 'She was beating her,' the witness continued, 'to the point that you'd hear 'please, I won't do it again, let go of me.'' The interviewer then asks the same witness if the victim was in her right mind. 'I was born in this neighborhood, and grew up in it, she had all her mental faculties. It's true, however, she grew old and weak, but is that how you'd honor your parents when they reach an old age!' said the witness.
