(MENAFN- Morocco World News) An unsigned published comment challenging Imam Omar Kzabri of Hassan II Mosque to a debate has caused quite a stir in social media circles. The comments were published in a story written by Naceureddine Elafrite in Medias24.
A caption under the picture of Kzabri says the Imam is 'playing with fire,' and committing 'a violent act against women' by saying 'they will go to hell.' Kzabri, Imam of Hassan II, the largest mosque in Casablanca, made a statement earlier this week reminding the Muslims of Morocco of the importance of modesty in Islam. Specifically, Omar Kzabri pointed out the growing 'trend' of nakedness amongst women in the kingdom. 'Nudity is no longer seasonal affair, it is spread before our eyes, winter and summer,' the Imam said. The eminent religious figure, who specializes in Quran recitation, used the following hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS): 'Women who will be dressed but appear to be naked, inviting to evil; and they themselves will be inclined to it. They will not enter Jannah [Paradise] and they will not smell its fragrance, said the Prophet Muhammad. (SAWS) 'Sheikh [Imam Kzabri] invokes God, hell and finally the foreign plot against the Muslim nation,' writes the challenging commenter. Imam Kzabri did emphasize that he feels there are people who 'fight the defenders of decency' and do not 'respect the freedom of those who chose the Islamic hijab or niqab.' Imam Kzabri's comments on Facebook were shared over 1,000 times in the past four days. 'You cannot say that the Moroccan streets are the scene of a massive and daily parade of naked girls dress or undress in an offensive manner,' writes the commenter. The commenter went on to describe the scholar's discourse as 'scary' and 'dangerous.' He ended his critique by reminding the Imam that King Muhammad VI is the Commander of the Faithful. 'Do not exceed your limits,' the commenter writes. In response to the commenter, Imam Kzabri posted another statement on Facebook explaining that the correlation between Islam and the values of modesty, that Islam insists upon, are not only from him. He was merely reminded Muslims of the prophet's (SAWS) teachings. Kzabri is a revered Islamic imam at Hassan II mosque in Casablanca. His beautiful Quran recitations attract hundreds of thousands ofworshipersto pray behind his lead inRamadan. Edited by Ki.
