Morocco- Moroccan Girls Score Higher on Baccalaureate Exams Than Boys

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Moroccan girls exhibited incredible success on this year''s baccalaureate exams.

Across the Kingdom, girls achieved the highest baccalaureate scores, with a 48.69 percent success rate among female high school graduates, compared to 39.69 percent among their male counterparts.

Girls scored higher nationally in both private and public schools.

Many people in the education field have attested to the noticeable difference between the attitudes that girls and boys adopt towards schoolwork and responsibilities, which significantly affects the outcome of their academic achievements.

Specialists have attributed this gap between female and male academic success rates to social psychological and culture.

In Moroccan society, lifestyles of young men and women are different in many ways.

While boys are usually allowed to experience a number of social practices which take place outside of the house, girls usually lead a lifestyle which is more or less confined to the four walls of their homes.

This allows the girls to spend more time focusing on their schoolwork and the boys more time to spend on hobbies and activities.

This phenomenon has also been explained from a psychoanalytic perspective as being a kind of effort subconsciously made on the behalf of girls as an attempt to change the reality that they live of a male dominated world.

Much researches and analysis still needs to be conducted on the causes and consequences of this difference, but there are no foreseeable changes expected in the upcoming years when it comes to gender gap of high school graduate scores in Morocco.
