(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, May 30 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Military Forces killed 16 terrorists in an operation that took place in Al-Areesh, Rafah, and Sheikh Zuwayed in North Sinai, the army said Monday.
Spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Samir said in a statement, 24 bombs was disarmed earlier that were ready to be used against the armed forces.
He added, that Egyptian Armed forces discovered and destroyed a number of shelters and hideouts, used by terrorists to hide and store weapons and ammunitions.
He also asserted a 3rd phase from a full scale operation will be carried out by the 2nd Army to gain full control on North Sinai.
Egypt has been fighting terrorist elements in North Sinai since July 2012 losing lots of soldiers till this day. (end) esm.mys
