Jordan, South Africa discuss ties, Middle East


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 17 (Petra) -- Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Mohammad Bani Yaseen, Tuesday, met Deputy Foreign Minister of South Africa, Nomaindia Mfeketo, for talks on Middle East issues and bilateral ties.

At the meeting, Bani Yaseen, told Mfeketo that Jordan is committed to the two-state solution, ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 4th of July, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also spoke about the burdens that Jordan shoulders as a result of hosting more than 1.3 million Syrian refugees.

"Jordan provides the Syrian refugees with all the services needed despite its limited resources", Bani Yaseen, told Mfeketo.

In turn, the South African official hailed Jordan's generosity shown towards Syrian refugees and for keeping the borders open to them.

She said her country underwent the same experience of hosting large numbers of refugees in Africa due to conflicts in neighboring African countries.

On Palestine, Mfeketo said that finding a solution to this issue will solve several problems and tensions in the region.

Mfeketo also said that Jordan plays an outstanding role in promoting international peace and security and praised the distinguished ties reached by the two countries.
