UAE- US Ambassador lauds Sheikha Fatima s vision in empowering Emirati women

ABU DHABI 28th April 2016 (WAM) -- Barbara A. Leaf Ambassador of the United States to the UAE has praised H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU) Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood for her vision and unwavering support for the empowerment of Emirati women to achieve further development and progress.

Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) during her visit to the headquarters of the General Women's Union in Abu Dhabi today the US Ambassador expressed her delight in learning about the development process of Emirati women in all political cultural and sports areas.

The U.S. envoy was received by Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi Director-General of the General Women's Union. She toured various sections of the organisation including Al Jawhara Hall where she inspected the awards and medals bestowed on Sheikha Fatima by local and international institutions in recognition to her role in supporting humanitarian charitable activities and the women empowerment advancement.

The US Ambassador was also presented with a souvenir traditional handmade dresses made by women who participated at an exhibition affiliated with the union.
