Qatar- QBA explores Tunisian ventures

DOHA: Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) has expressed its willingness to discuss potential opportunities with the Tunisian companies and to create joint ventures both in Tunisia and in Qatar as long as it is of common interests to both.

Addressing an event held in connection with a private dinner hosted in honor of the Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid and his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani QBA Second Deputy Chairman noted the economic boom that Qatar witnessed has led the companies and the business institutions to a level of maturity which enabled them to compete beyond the local and regional markets.

Hussein Al Fardan QBA First Deputy Chairman praised the economic relations between the two countries and stressed the need for strengthening trade cooperation between the two countries.

Two MoUs were signed at the event. One MoU was signed between the QBA and the confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises where Sheikh Dr Khalid signed as QBA representative and Monya Al Saeedy signed on behalf of the confederation.

The second MoU was signed between Qatar Chamber and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tunisia. Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kuwari signed as the chamber Vice-Chairman and Mounir Al Moakher as the chairman of the chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tunisia.

The Tunisian delegation included Reda Al Ahwal Minister of Commerce Tohamy Al Abdouly Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amal Ashour Al Nafty Assistant Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture Water Resources and Fisheries; Salah Al Salhi Tunisian Ambassador to Qatar and Abdullah bin Nasser Al Hamidi Qatari Ambassador to Tunisia.

Shareeda Al Kaaby Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah bin Thani Khalid Mannai Nasser Soliman Al Haider Dr Hussein Al Abdullah Salah Al Jaidah Saoud Al Mana Nabil Abu Issa MaqboolKhalfan Abdulbasit Al Shebi Ali Al Ebaidley; and Sarah Abdullah attended the event.

Currently Qatar’s investments in Tunisia is estimated at more than QR2bn and projected to touch QR3bn soon.

Qatar is the second largest Arab investor in Tunisia where the country’s exports to Tunisia amounted to $22.2m during the first ten months of this year.
