Towell Auto Centre (TAC) in partnership with Bridgestone has successfully conducted Tyre Safety Campaign honouring its corporate social responsibility initiative.

The campaign was recently held in the Information Technology Authority of Oman premises in Rusayl.

'The Tyre Safety Campaign is an endeavour to educate drivers on the subject. Safety checks are done and information is shared with motorists on how to maintain tyres resulting in extended life. Tyres are exposed to the maximum amount of wear-and-tear and constant friction with the road. Tyre is the primary and most important contact of the vehicle with the road. Tyre upkeep should be considered an absolute necessity' said Oommen John AGM Bridgestone Tyre Division at TAC.

'Oman roads have recorded high number of fatal road accidents. Statistic reports from last year show that about 285 road accidents were caused as a result of bad tyres. Our persistent efforts are to spread awareness on tyre safety and initiatives by the ROP have shown a significant decrease in the rate of accidents this year. We stay committed to the cause' he added.

As leaders in the tyre industry Bridgestone understands the responsibility to create awareness amongst users on the importance of tyre safety. Keeping a regular check on tyres not only significantly reduces the possibility of having accidents but also has a positive impact on the life of the tyres.

A tyre with the recommended air pressure also diminishes the rolling resistance of the vehicle which in turn also affects fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
