(MENAFN) Inflation rates recorded in August across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states ranged from a low of 0.07 percent in Oman to a high of 4.94 percent in the UAE, GCC-Stat data showed.
The UAE topped the table with an inflation rate of 4.94 percent, followed by Kuwait at 3.84 percent, Saudi Arabia at 2.1 percent, Bahrain at 1.7 percent, and Qatar at 1.2 percent, while Oman enjoyed the lowest inflation.
Prices of food and beverages in August 2015 rose in most of the GCC countries in comparison with trends recorded in August last year, according to the latest figures issued by GCC-Stat.
The jump was highest in Kuwait at 5.62 percent, followed by Bahrain at 2.9 percent, KSA at 2.1 percent, Qatar at 1.9 percent, and the UAE at 0.64 percent. In contrast, prices fell in Oman by 0.89 percent.
