U.S can't confirm ISIL claim American Hostage death

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) US officials said that Washington has not yet seen any proof to confirm a claim by Daesh terrorist group that a female US hostage was killed in an air strike in Syria by coalition planes.

In a statement posted on sympathetic websites on Friday, Daesh said Kayla Mueller was buried beneath rubble after an air raid by coalition jet fighters in Raqqa, in northern Syria.

The statement did not show any pictures of the body and there was no independent confirmation of her reported death.

US National Security Council spokesperson Bernadette Meehan, said "We are obviously deeply concerned by these reports, but we have not at this time seen any evidence that corroborates ISIL's claim." Kayla Mueller, 26, originally from Arizona was taken hostage by the terrorist organization in Syria on Aug. 4, 2013, while leaving a Spanish Doctors Without Borders hospital. Her family previously had requested Mueller's name not be made public for fear it would endanger her life.

Mueller's parents, who live in Prescott, Arizona, said their daughter has devoted her career "to helping those in need in countries around the world" since graduating from Northern Arizona University in 2009.
