Emirates Airline boost Dar es Salaam service

(MENAFN) Emirates Airlines announced it has decided to boost its service for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's principal port and commercial city, to be a double-daily operation starting from January 1, Emirates 24/7 reported.

The carrier, which currently operates 12 flights a week between Dubai and Dar es Salaam, said that the addition of the two extra flights will make Dar es Salaam join Nairobi as the second destination in east Africa with a double-daily service.

Emirates said that its decision to increase the number of services on its Dar es Salam service is the result of Tanzania being an import market for tourism and business, with expectations that the increased service will help in boosting inbound and outbound tourism and trade between the country, Dubai and its network especially the US and Europe, as well as the Middle East, India.

The new second daily service will be operated with an Emirates A330-200, with the two extra flights providing an additional 948 seats to the 2370 seats available on the current five times weekly service, as well as increasing the cargo capacity on the route by more than 65 tons.

"On October 27 this year we introduced the five times weekly flight to complement the daily service, but we decided to add two extra flights to the schedule which will provide travellers with even more convenience and choice when travelling to Dubai and onward," Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Latin America, Central and Southern Africa said.
