Qatar- CISM officials heap praise on Doha for a perfect show
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) International Military Sports Council (CISM) officials have praised Qatar Emiri Naval Forces for a perfect organisational at the 47th World Military Sailing Championship.
Bram Weller Chairman of the Technical committee of the championship and Colonel Waltervan of the CISM, have said the hosts have shown outstanding abilities in organizing the championship which is rarely witnessed in other championships.
"Technical Committee headed by Colonel Hassan Abdulah Muhsen abided by all CISM rules and regulations which were applied in similar championships so we didn't witness any objections from the participating countries so far," said Weller.
"The boats Qatar provided for the championship were manufactured according to the Olympic standards showing that Qatar wanted to host a successful championship," he added.
Weller pointed out that the referees are doing great and the observers are on the spot to pick up any infringements.
"Onshore and offshore referees are continuously communicating to ensure all participants are abiding by the law. In case any participant commits any fault red flag will be raised and the defaulting boat has to circle full 360 degree in order to be able to continue the race," Weller said.
Meanwhile, Waltervan praised the logistic services provided by the organizing committee for all the participants.
"There are more than 100 male and female participants representing 17 countries which is very good comparing to previous championships. These countries are representing Asia, Africa, Europe and South and North America.
"I am was happy with the female participation in the championship as it is one of the most important goals that CISM supports," Waltervan said.
Seven countries are taking part in women section of the Doha championship, while 17 countries are taking part in the men's section. Today is the last day of the championship and three races will be held today. The closing ceremony will take place on Saturday.
