National plan for human rights to bolster Kingdom's position: King


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  His Majesty King Abdullah II said that the National Plan for Human Rights would help boost the Kingdom's position at the regional and international levels.

The King made this remark while chairing a follow-up meeting of the plan, which he ordered be set up last year to address all recommendations and issues raised by the annual report on the human rights conditions in Jordan for the year 2012.

King Abdullah thanked all the ministries and government departments for the efforts they exerted over the past year to improve the human rights conditions across the Kingdom.

The Monarch also stressed the importance of stepping up the efforts exerted by the government to implement the recommendations which were included in the last annual report.

The meeting was attended by the prime minister, president of the Judicial Council, chairman of the National Centre for Human Rights and other senior officials.

Further, the King urged government departments to continue to work with team spirit to better serve human rights in the Kingdom and to further improve these rights.

King Abdullah also called for institutionalizing the annual human rights reports and to deal with all such reports as well as to respond to them with utmost transparency to further boost the Kingdom's bright record in this domain.
