6 Afghan soldiers martyred in roadside blast and militants fire


(MENAFN- QNA) At least six Afghan national army (ANA) soldiers were killed following militants fire and improvised explosive device (IED) attack.

Defense ministry spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi said Monday the Afghan soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours. He did not disclose further information regarding the exact locations where the Afghan soldiers were martyred.

In the meantime, he said at least 18 militants were killed and a number of others were injured during military operations in the past 24 hours.

Azimi added the operations were conducted in 7 different provinces and at least 5 militants were also arrested while 70 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) were confiscated.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far. According to security officials, the Afghan army deaths stands at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.
