Philippines import bill dips 3.6 percent in June

(MENAFN) A local Filipino statistics agency said that the country's import bill dropped 3.6 percent to USD4.71 billion in June over a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

The decrease was led by the country's lower purchases of electronic products, marking the second consecutive month of decline in the country's goods purchases from abroad this year.

Philippine's purchases of electronic products dipped 22 percent on-year to USD855.2 million in June, accounting for 18.1 percent of the total shipments during the period.

In the first half of 2014, the country's total import bill reached USD31.34 billion, an increase of 5.4 percent compared to the same period a year ago, in which it totaled USD29.75 billion.
