(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul July 21 (QNA) - The South Korean Defense Ministry said the deployment of a US high-altitude anti-ballistic missile defense system will not affect China as its range is within the Korean Peninsula.
Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said Monday that Beijing has never officially mentioned the issue of the push for the US Forces Korea to use the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense battery known as THAAD.
Kim added that the THAAD system's X-band radar station has a detection range of about one-thousand kilometers and would be mainly used for uncovering ballistic missiles fired from North Korea. (QNA)
