russian news agency itar-tass reported today that the two leaders agreed there was no alternative to a political settlement of the crisis and that it was imperative to neutralize al-qaeda fighters taking part in the syrian crisis. a kremlin press service released today said it was erdogan who contacted putin to discuss the matter. the two leaders also agreed that no contact should be made with other radical groups fighting in syria.
