(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  A woman accused of trying to smuggle 1kg of cocaine under her coat through the airport, has been charged in the Court of First Instance with smuggling drugs by transit. The woman, a 27-year-old Thai, was arrested on February 11 at the Dubai International Airport. A woman police corporal said during the prosecution investigation that she was on duty when the defendant arrived around 9.30pm at Terminal 3. "The accused was travelling by transit coming from Brazil's Sao Paulo and heading to Kuala Lumpur". The corporal took the defendant to the inspection room as told by another officer. "There was a thickness in her clothes so I asked her to take her coat off". There was a piece of cloth wrapped around her chest reaching down to her waist, the officer said. The police corporal added that she seized a quantity of drugs hidden under that piece of cloth. Another police corporal confirmed having suspected the accused as she looked nervous and afraid. "I suspected she might be hiding drugs under her clothes as her walk seemed heavy". He said that he told a woman officer to search her and he learnt later that she found a piece of cloth containing cocaine wrapped around her chest under her coat. The accused was then taken to Terminal 1 for questioning. She admitted that she had brought the cocaine from Sao Paolo and was on a job to deliver it to Malaysia. According to the Crime Lab report, the quantity of drugs seized from the accused was cocaine and weighed 1kg.
