(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An Emirati passenger died of cardiac arrest on a Bangkok-bound Emirates flight from Dubai, which made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in suburban Shamshabad near here in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh early Tuesday morning.
Police sources said a doctor stationed at the Apollo Clinic at the airport went aboard and examined the patient, identified as 19-year-old Ali Ibrahim Parwish Sangoor Al Valooshi, who was travelling to Bangkok along with his family. He was declared dead after the examination. The family also got off the flight following the tragic news.
The body was shifted to the Apollo Clinic at the airport, sources said, adding that the body would be released after conducting an autopsy.
The police and other authorities are making arrangements to hand over the body to the family after the autopsy.
The flight, EK-374, left for Bangkok at 6.21am.
"Emirates flight EK374 from Dubai to Bangkok has been diverted to Hyderabad today due to a medical emergency. Emirates regrets any inconvenience caused. The safety of its passengers and crew is of paramount importance," said an Emirates spokesperson.
In another incident in Pattaya, a 26-year-old Emirati was found dead in a hotel room two days back. According to reports in Thailand media, there was accumulated saliva in his mouth, and no signs of injuries or abuses were found on his body.
After the legal procedures, his body was flown back to Dubai and buried.
