The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) in Dhofar has been spreading awareness and cautioning visitors. It has tweeted saying, 'It is strictly prohibited to swim on the beaches and water accumulated in places during khareef, as doing so may put your life in danger.'

According to MoT, the paving and maintenance works of the Ain Garzeez road in the wilayat of Salalah has been completed, while maintenance work is still undergoing in other tourist sites.

Salalah is a destination for both Omani and Gulf nationals for summer vacations, as the weather is pleasant and much better than the rest of the country. It acts as a recreation and relaxation centre away from the heat in other places in the region.

Dhofar also has tourism elements that include white beaches, soft sand, a series of mountains, valleys and plains. The area also has many caves, which tourists can explore. The government and private organisations concerned with the reception of tourists are prepared to provide facilities and services that meet their needs.

The Khareef Salalah 2018 Visitors Survey will start on Thursday and continue tillSeptember 21. The survey, which is being carried out for the 15th successive year, in cooperation with MoT and the ROP, contributes to providing data and information that reflect the status of tourism sector in Dhofar during the khareef season.

The project aims at identifying the visitor profile during the khareef season and work on the growth trends. It also aims at studying the demographic and economic features of visitors.
