India slaps Cambridge Analytica with notice over data storage


(MENAFN) India was declared to have issued a notice on Cambridge Analytica for allegedly using social media information on political motives.

Cambridge Analytica was also given a deadline, March 31, to respond to the notice of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will slap it with legal measures.

A senior official stated "two of the questions asked by the government are - whether the firm has been engaged in any assignment to utilise data of Indians and the entities that has engaged the firm for using data of Indians."

Indian Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also warned against any act of "covert or overt attempt" to manipulate social media "to influence country's electoral process through undesirable means."
