Qatar- Renowned environmental activist to give lecture at QNL

Qatar National Library in collaboration with Arab Youth Climate Movement is hosting a lecture by Dr Vandana Shiva titled 'Ecological crisis & future of food security.

The lecture will also discuss the role of people and communities everywhere who are giving up industrial agriculture and adopting agro ecology. Agro ecology is farming that 'centers on food production that makes the best use of nature's goods and services while not damaging these resources.

Dr Vandana Shiva is a world renowned environmental and social activist who, for more than 3 years has been actively promoting sustainable agriculture practices through her writing, lecture and grassroots activism.

Identified by Time Magazine as an environmental 'hero' in 2003 and by Forbes Magazine in 2010 as one of the Seven Most Powerful Women on the Globe, she has published around 30 books in the field of food security, biodiversity, climate change and globalization.

The event will be held on March 29 from 6pm to 7:30pm in Qatar National Library's Special events area. The public event is not open for children.
