Sembcorp JV to boost 300MW Oman power project


(MENAFN) Marafiq, a mutual venture firm launched by Takamlu Investment Co. and Singapore-based Sembcorp Utilities, will develop a 300MW power project in the special economic zone at Duqm.

Currently, Duqm is served by a 66MW diesel-fired power plant owned and operated by the Rural Areas Elect Co. (Raeco), part of Nama Group.

Moreover, the facility is made to meet the energy needs of a new refinery and petrochemical complex under development at the SEZ.

Additionally, the 230.000 bpd green field refinery is being developed by Oman Oil Co. and Kuwait Petroleum Intl at a cost of almost USD7bn.
